After several years as a part time fundraiser and a stay-at-home-mom of 3 pretty cool kids, I decided to study metal smithing at Kendall College of Art and Design. Little did I know that I would fall in love with something completely new. Metal Smith work is perfect for my active personality--the hammering, forming, sawing and torch work are not only creative, but also keep me moving while I'm working. I began selling stamped school necklaces outside the stadium of my kids high school (to their horror) and continued to create new pieces and develop new ideas. I love experimenting; whether its adding color to metal with enamel or creating a bezel for a unique stone to set, each piece I produce is handmade and one of a kind. Hand stamping might be the most personal work because it allows me to help a customer develop and design a piece that is meaningful to them. These stamped pieces are made with love to help inspire, empower, and encourage each of my customers. Facilitating the unique connection between each personal piece and the customer is the most gratifying aspect of my work.
In the past few years, my desire to inspire others has branched out to another love of mine—fitness. I have been certified as a yoga instructor for three years now, and have also branched out into HIIT workouts, silver sneakers, and other weight-based fitness classes. I am currently teaching a variety of ages and levels. You can find out more about my training and where I am teaching at www.lakeeffectyoga.com.
In addition to selling on line, you can also find some of my work at the following stores in Michigan:
